Heart of the Community Award

A business that has made a significant contribution to the local area and has gone the extra mile to be at the heart of the local community.

Criteria

To be considered for the Heart of the Community Award, a business must demonstrate a minimum of three of the following qualities:

  1. Support for Local Charities and Good Causes: The business actively engages in supporting local charities and initiatives that benefit the community.

  2. Provides Excellent Customer Service: The business consistently provides outstanding customer service, ensuring satisfaction and loyalty among its clientele.

  3. Employs local people: The business prioritises the recruitment and employment of individuals from the local area, contributing to the growth and prosperity of the community.

  4. Cares about the environment around them: The business demonstrates a genuine concern for the environment by implementing sustainable practices and actively working towards reducing its ecological footprint.

  5. Improves the lives of local people: The business goes the extra mile to improve the lives of local residents, creating positive impacts and fostering a sense of belonging within the community.

  6. Actively supports the economy: The business actively participates in initiatives that support the local economy, promoting growth, employment opportunities, and overall economic vitality.

  7. Looks after their community: The business takes proactive steps to care for and nurture the well-being of the local community, collaborating with residents, organizations, and authorities to address community needs and concerns.

Nominations must meet a minimum of three criteria points

 

  • The competition is open to all private sector businesses from all sectors and sizes.
  • Registered charities and businesses which are funded by public sector organisations are not eligible for these awards.
  • All nominated businesses must have been trading for a minimum of six months on Friday 6 September 2024
  • All businesses which are nominated must have a registered trading address and be operating from the address in North Tyneside.
  • Businesses can nominate themselves
  • The number of nominations received does not favour applicants

The Judging Panel will consist of representatives from the Business Forum Management Group who will consider how well applicants meet the stated criteria for each category.

The panel’s decision is final and will be based solely on information provided in the nomination.
