2018 - Heart of the Community Award

The Heart of the Community award is our way of encouraging people to say THANK YOU to a business which has made a significant contribution to the local area. 

The award recognises businesses which show that it is not just the cash flow of a business that counts; it is making a positive difference to the borough. 

The North Tyneside Business Forum management group have shortlisted and the finalists are businesses which have gone extra mile to be at the heart of the local community, and:

  • Support local initiatives and causes  
  • Employs local people
  • Provide excellent customer service

Judging Criteria

Votes will only be accepted through this voting system.

Voting will remain open until 7pm on Thursday 15th November.

Fake email addresses will be removed from the vote and will not be counted.

Only 1 vote per email address will be accepted for each finalist.

Cullercoats Coffee

A coffee shop in the heart of Cullercoats which is owned by and employs local people. An extract from the nomination reads: “They have a chess night weekly to bring people together and form new friendships and unlike some larger chains they welcome you in and have a chat even if you’re by yourself....Cullercoats coffee is a brilliant community hub, business and somewhere that really gives back to Cullercoats”

Carney Consultancy

Founded in 2002,  Carney Consultancy is a Health & Safety Consultancy and Training provider based in The Smokehouse on  North Shields Fish Quay. The majority of its workforce are local to North Shields and Whitley Bay. The company is involved in a number of North East charities.

Carney Consultancy are supporters of The Phoenix Detached Youth Project, and active committee members for The Lighthouse Club, National Association for Women in Construction, Working Well Together North East and are keen sponsors of a number of other events.
